Bringing Home Baby!

While I was pregnant, I would sometimes watch the show Bringing Home Baby.  Although, I would never want my whole story video recorded and put on television for all to see, I always though how great it was that these parents had every detail on video for them to show their baby one day.

With this entry, it will be more of a journal for Cohen and for me to always remember everything about his wonderful journey into this life.

Ever since Tim and I have been dating we were in agreeance that we wanted our children to be close.  Tim and his sister are around 16 months apart and my sister and I are only 15 months apart and we both LOVED growing up close to a sibling.  Right after we had Arlo we began making plans for Gooch number 2.  Luckily for us, after only a few months of trying, we were blessed with another healthy pregnancy.   With Arlo I had a horrible pregnancy.  I was miserable!  I was in no way looking forward to getting pregnant again, but we wanted to stick with our plan.  On, finding out I was pregnant I will have to admit that I was more nervous than excited.  But this is where I truley believe that my Heavenly Father stepped in and calmed my nerves beause like I have mentioned before, this pregnancy was a peice of cake compared with Arlo.

The next big step was in finding out the sex of the baby.  Tim and I both wanted another little boy.  We were both so excited that instead of waiting for week 18, Tim and I went  to a ultrasound place to find out the sex at week 13.  And we were both so relieved to know that our plans were working out perfectly.  The rest of the pregnancy was pretty univentful.  No major complains, and I have Arlo to thank for that.  He kept me so busy!

When I was 36 weeks pregnant my Dr. and I started talking about plans for the delivery.  I did not go into labor with Arlo, I was induced, so with Cohen I wanted to go into labor on my own.  But there was a discrepancy between me and the Dr. about when my due date actually was.  Because we were planning Cohen, I KNOW that my due date was Nov. 21.  But with one of my ultrasounds Cohen's measurements were dating November 29th.  So, that is the date that my Dr. kept as my due date.  Needless to say I was not very happy with his decision.  Based on his due date, I decided it would be best to go ahead and plan the induction.

On November 23 Tim and I woke up early, I called Arlo's babysitter to make sure she was ready and we prepared to go to the hospital.  About 15 minutes before we had to leave my phone started ringing.  It was the hospital.  They wanted to postpone my induction for a later time.  I was relieved to find out that it was only to postpone and not to cancel.  Well, I was supposed to go in at 9:00 AM and I did not get the call to go in until 7:00 PM.  Yes, I had to wait 10 hours.  Waiting was so much worse than a cancellation.  Tim wanted to go to a movie, dinner and shopping but I was so worried that the hospital would call during these activities we spent most of the day doing nothing.  Yet, at the same time it was so nice to have a day with Tim.  It had been to long since our last kid free day together.

Well, the rest of the story I will make quick.  We got to the hospital around 7:30.  They got me on pitossin around 9:30.  I got my epidural around midnight.  And Cohen was born at 1:59 AM.  Everything went so well.  My epidural was perfect.  I could feel no pain but I could still move my legs.  And my labor was fast.  I really could not have asked for a better delivery.  My Doctor I also want to mention was great.  He was not on call with either one of my children, but he was there for both of their deliveries.  I was so grateful to have a doctor who cares and who goes out of his way to be there for his patients.

Now that Cohen is finally here and I have had a week to adjust, I have to say that I love my boys!  I will be honest and say that I was so worried about loving Cohen as much as Arlo, but it is possible.  Heavenly Father has blessed me with 2 beautiful boys and a loving husband.  I really couldn't ask for a better life!

After such a long post here are some pictures of my new babe.  (These are the pictures that are taken in the hospital and a few of my Arlo!)

New Addition

The time has finally arrived!
We welcomed baby Cohen into this world on November 24th at 1:59 AM.
He weighed 8lbs 11oz and was 20 1/2 inches long.  (Although at the Dr. office on friday they measured him at 21 1/2 inches long)

To me he is perfect and beautiful and looks almost identical to Arlo when he was born.  I am going to post more pics and journal all the wonderful details later.

So for now.... here is Cohen Austin Gooch.

The End In Sight!

Just a quick post...

I went to my doctor today and we have scheduled the big day!

I am scheduled for induction on Tuesday, November 23rd!

Now, correct me if I am wrong but that is only 1 week away!

It is so exciting and scary all at the same time.

SO... be on the lookout for Gooch #2!

For now...
As I look back on this pregnancy, I am just so thankful it was nothing like with Arlo.  My nausea was under control... I can count the times I threw up on both hands!  I did not swell, I did not gain as much weight, I could not have told you what week of pregnancy I was in, I did not have the constant pain under my right rib, I was not miserable!!!  I am not going to lie, there were a few moments I was not so happy being pregnant, but overall this pregnancy was wonderful compared to the last!!!  I would like to thank my little man Arlo, for keeping me pre-occupied ALL the time, it has helped bunches!  Now, I am not so nervous for the next pregnancies! Yes, there will be more Gooches to come!

A Spooky Weekend!

Happy Halloween Everyone!

Although this was not Arlo's 1st Halloween it was the 1st Halloween that we really got to celebrate with him.  I love this age, because I love watching him as he does new things.  I love watching him learning and growing and just being amazed with the world around him.

So here are some pictures of all the fun we had together!

I made ghost cookies for Arlo and his cousin Lani.  And then I gave them frosting and knives and let them go at it.  As you can plainly see they probably got more frosting in their mouths than on the cookie, and believe it of not both boys sat there and decorated their cookies for more than 30 minutes!  They were loving it!

On Saturday, our church had a "trunk or treat" party where there were games, a chili cook off (I didn't win;-() and then trick or treating out of the trunks of parked cars.  We got there in costume at about five, and watched as our little Dracula ran around and terrorized just about everyone and everything!  We ate our dinner and then had to run off to another party.  At this party, Arlo spent most of his time making ghost noises to all the ghosts that were EVERYWHERE!

I did slick his hair back, but we had been going for about 3 hours at this time so... I am just surprised that his costume is still clean!

Then on Halloween we got ready one more time and went out trick or treating for the very first time!  It was hilarious! Arlo tried to walk into every house that had a dog, he tried to give back candy that was given to him, he would not walk up to a few people and blew kisses to just about everyone!  He was such a charmer... everyone kept commenting on how cute he was.  (I knew it was not just me who thought so!) But really, it is his personality that charms everyone.  He is so independent and loving and strong headed about what he does and does not want to do, it just makes everyone laugh!

For trick or treating I did slick Arlo's hair back and paint it black.  I had to do it in his eating chair, while he was eating because he would not sit still otherwise.  And when it finally got done, he looked at himself in the mirror and laughed and then started chasing his dad with his head, so once again, the hair did not work out to well... but he is still a cutie.  Tim and I were super cheesy and bought sesame street shirts from good old walmart.  Arlo loved them, he was probably the only one.  But what do you expect from me being 37 weeks pregnant, I was not much in the mood for dressing up.

We also carved pumpkins!  Arlo loves cats at the moment so we carved this spooky black cat for him, and it didn't turn out to bad!

Overall, our weekend went by way to fast, but we had a wonderful Halloween!

Great Weather = Outdoor Adventures

Arlo is at the stage right now where he LOVES animals.  He can make most animal sounds and he loves to read about animals.  Put that together with the absolutely BEAUTIFUL weather that we have been having lately and we HAD to go to the zoo.  Tim agreed... and even though he just had surgery a week earlier, he still came with us.

We went to the Phoenix Zoo, and luckily for us so did the rest of Arizona!  It was so crowded... but we still got to see a few animals.

We fed the giraffes

We roared with the tiger

We LOVED the rhino

We rode on some sort of deer-goat

We acted like monkeys

We tried not to fall in with the zebras.

We rode on the carousel not once, but twice and he tried to sweet talk me into more... but it was enough fun and walking for me and my belly... so it was time to go.

Overall we had a fun filled day!  But our outdoor adventures are not over yet... with this beautiful weather we still have the fair and the pumpkin patch!

New- Old Haircut

This post is long overdue... considering that Arlo got this haircut back on September 17th!  But here are the before pictures of his long beautiful hair.

I really loved his long hair, but it was starting to get too scraggly in the front, and in the back his hair was so long it would not curl anymore.

When we got to Cool Cuts, Arlo got to sit in a cool car and watch his favorite movie "Elmo in Grouchland" but as soon as the stylist put the cape on Arlo lost it... he started screaming and crying like he was going to die!  So, the the stylist brought out a sucker and instantaneously Arlo suddenly forgot that he was so upset and said as sweetly as he could... "Thank You" which actually sounds like tae-too. He seriously cracks me up how he can go from day to night in no time at all!

And here is the after shot of his new, big boy haircut.  What a handsome boy!

Pop a bottle of Martinellis!

It is finally over!!!!!

Tim and I went to the Cheesecake Factory for a celebratory dessert!

Because today is the day that our house finally sold!

What a bittersweet moment!

I couldn't be happier to finally sell that place and be done with it!

But...

It was our first home!

We put our blood, sweat and tears into that place.

And now it is no longer ours.

YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
